2024 Gatherings

October 11, 2024
The Farmer's Museum

Keynote Presenter: Terence Houlihan

Preparing today’s teachers to work with students whose brains aren’t yet fully developed is a
mammoth task and just one of the many “job descriptions” assigned to Catholic school leaders. Since the launch of the iPhone in 2007 and apps like Instagram and Snapchat just 3-4 years later, some building leaders spend the bulk of their time managing student crises that may have been initiated outside of the school building, online. How can we better prepare our teachers to work with students whose brains are developing? Are there opportunities to partner with parents in limiting the negative consequences of social media use? We will explore these questions and some recent findings in neuroscience that can shed light in an area where some building leaders feel like they’re in the dark.
